The Memorial Day weekend holiday is upon us and there are many events on Long Island’s East End to help you kick-off the unofficial start of the summer. From art, poetry, a Broadway star, chowder, live music, and of course wine.

Riverhead
Get poetic at the Blue Duck Bakery Cafe. They will be hosting Poetry Street, an East End Arts “jumpstART” initiative which is on-going on the fourth Sunday of every month. Poets, comedians and storytellers are invited to sign up. A New Suffolk tradition, The 9th Annual Chowderfest returns. Pollock Family Drip Painting
Directed by popular author/artist, Joyce Raimondo, families can explore the home and studio of famous artists, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. Afterwards, children and adults will drip paint their own Pollock inspired art outdoors on the spectacular grounds overlooking Accabonic Harbor. 10am-1130am. Take in local art as the the Montauk Artists’ Association hosts its 9th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Show on the Green. From May 26-28, 2017, you’ll be able to spend the day or weekend exploring art. The Village Green transforms into an outdoor gallery of original and handmade art brought to Montauk by artists from across America. On Saturday, May 27th from 7pm-10pm, Audra McDonald, winner of the most Tony awards ever will appear at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. East End Arts present the 21st annual community mosaic street painting festival. Fun for the entire family, the fair will have street painting, crafts, food trucks, live music, drumming, dance and more.

Greenport
Spend Memorial Day at the carnival. The Greenport Fire Department Star Hose Company No. 3 presents its annual carnival at the Polo Grounds on Moores Lane. Fun for the entire family including games, food and rides.
